Overview: Don’t Invite COVID & Welcome Vax Campaign

The Don’t Invite COVID & Welcome Vax campaign is a project of Lane Transit District and community partners, focused on keeping Lane County safe during the pandemic. The campaign is meant to cut through the clutter, overcome pandemic fatigue, and collectively share the same message.

The campaign features a badly behaved COVID character wreaking havoc in various scenarios. It doesn’t wear a mask or wash its hands, and it always wants to be near you. It’s the big germ you love to hate. Our heroes, Vaxana & Vaximilian, encourage community members to get vaccinated to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases in our community.

The campaign initially launched with the message “Don’t Invite COVID & Follow the Four” (Wash your hands. Stay six feet apart. Avoid large gatherings. Wear a mask when required.) When vaccines became available, our message shifted to “Welcome Vax! & Follow the Four.”

With statewide restrictions lifted, our messaging is now “Welcome Vax! Ready. Set. Ride!” as we welcome people back to the bus. Learn more about what to expect when riding the bus, like wearing a mask.
